"Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose."

Report

17 players teed off from two tee boxes, on time, in near perfect weather conditions. The course and especially the greens played slowly after the overnight rain.

The sad news was confirmed that Geoff Parslow will not be with us for a while, as he is back in Oz, after inexplicably falling foul of Immigration, upon his return to KL on Sunday afternoon from Phuket, and being refused entry. Geoff, good luck from us all, and we look forwards to seeing you back on the tee box as soon as possible.

The winner on the day was the in form Bernard Rohman with 86 for 46 points. Cut 10...Second place, ocb from Hans Berger was Stuart Taylor, also with 86 for 43 points. Cut only 1. The first three all had 3 bonus points to add.

Results - Templer Park Golf Club - 19th February 2013

Report

On a cloudy and occasionally drizzly day 17 golfers set off from two tee boxes on time at 0800 hrs. The course played even longer than usual, after the overnight rain, with little or no run on the fairways. Greens were true although a little slow. The high scores reflected the challenging course, with only 6 players, breaking the 100.

The winner on the day, due for a win, was Ted Parslow with a gross of 85, for 42 points, cut 6 points. Runner up was Ray Funnell with 98 for 39 points, cut 1. No brotherly blood was spilt, as Geoff Parslow just beat his brother with the lowest gross of 84.

Bernard was celebrating his 100th game with Cannons and donated very generously, prizes for NTP, bottle of wine, First, second and third places, box of balls, and a wine for most golf, Peter Davies was the recipient. A big thank you, Bernard.

Winners for NTP were :

Hole 2 No one claimed. Aftab was on the green, no measurement recorded.
Hole 8 Andrew Robinson 4.73 m
Hole 11 Terry Scott (guest) 10.0 m
Hole 16 Geoff Parslow 4.1 m

Another excellent lunch was enjoyed at the Tang Restaurant post game along with an appropriate number of refreshments. Richard Moss joined us for lunch and shows excellent signs of recovery after his hip replacement - we hope to see him out on the turf soon.

Results - Tasik Puteri Golf Club - 13th February 2013

Report

A rainy start to the New Year and our first game in the Year of the Snake!  And the Pro-Tem Convenors faithful assistant had not booked any flights.....?  And with another mini-competition of 7 flights there was some concern at the outset.  But we were all away in good time ahead of the rival comp and all round in good time in sublime weather after the drizzle lifted.

The winner was Tony Morris with gross 84 for 50 points!!!  R-up was Erol Akinci with gross 91 for 46 points.  Tony's handicap is shaved 14 and Erol's 1.  Ted Parslow had the lowest gross with 81 and Peter Davies and Barry Cousins shared the highest gross with 112 apiece.

Apres golf we adjourned to Restaurant Chin Hiong on the way back to the toll and had a very good lunch, albeit not appreciated by the entire throng as some of the dishes were far removed from meat and 2 veg.

And finally Tony Morris gets the prize for maximising the spelling errors in Allan McNicoll's name  on his Top Premier golf book ....
