Report
Weather conditions and course conditions were excellent for this Loose Cannons trophy day at Staffield. Although the greens were tricky and rather fast with difficult pin locations, causing some players 4 putts .. and dare I say even 5 putts.. but they ran true. We had a full 5 flights of 20 players with 19 players finishing …. Andrew Robinson had to unfotunately retire after 3 holes as he had "lost his grip" ….. caused by a cut in his finger from a broken wine glass …. so no surprises there.
The winner by quite a margin was Geoff McLaws with a consistent 38/38 for the 2 nines with a total gross of 76 and 46 points (cut 10) including a wonderful eagle on the par 5 9th hole on the Northern Nine. Runner up was Kevin Wiggins with a gross 87 for 40 points (cut 1).
We welcomed back to the Loose Cannon's fold, Mr Richard Moss, this being his first game post-hip replacement. He managed the 18 holes very well with his new bionic hip and no doubt he looks forward to many more games in the future.
Also of note, Bernard Rohman apparently managed to drive his buggy directly into a bunker as he drove at top speed over a mound ….. just a pity we do not have photographs or video of this incident ….. perhaps the following video may fill in this gap however ….. (hope he raked the bunker!!)
An excellent post-game lunch was enjoyed by 17 of the attendees at the Restoran Shengee in Mantin …. 15 of us had almost finished all the food when Joe Zorich and Peter Jackson strolled in looking hungry ….. due to their post game leasurely jug at the club.
