A small turnout this week of 10 golfers found Staffield in reasonable nick with much evidence of long overdue maintenance in progress. We played the Southern & Northern nines in ideal conditions with the firm fairways producing good run and the greens played true and quite fast, especially on the Southern 9. The only real complaint is the very soft (boggy) patches in front of and around several greens due to leaking water pipes. On an otherwise firm golf course a ball; even a golfer, can easily be plugged and even lost in these mini swamps.
Hans Berger was the winner (and the low gross) with 87 and 46 points and the runner up was Barry Cousins with 43 points. The most golf was played by myself as I continue to struggle to refind my game. The new eyes will, I hope, help.
5 golfers took M&M in Mantin and very good it was too, particularly the pork nuckle which was exceptional. Pity Tony couldn't join us; he's on a diet I understand! Bloody hell, just when I thought we were getting away from all these juices and other unmentionable beverages that members haaave started to consume in place of the amber nectar we have a stalwart abstaining all together in the name of vanity. For Barry, Mantin was a bridge too far. The other absentees no doubt had similar weak excuses. Guys, the apre golf M&M is an important element of Loose Cannons golf mornings.
This was Michael Hughes last game this visit. Bon voyage Mike.
Watch this space for details of next weeks venue which likely will be Tasik Puteri.
