17 LC's teed it up at a very soggy Lembah Beringin Tuesday. We had been 20 but with Mike Han pitching up Monday!!!! and late withdrawals because of a bleeding nose and work interruptions from Tony Russell and Bruce Davidson we were reduced to 17.
The weather was fine and although the course was rather busy with some visiting Koreans, a pleasant round was anticipated. What we didn't know was that the course had been inundated overnight restricting buggies to the track for the most part and with very soft fairways (akin to a quagmire in places) and water filled bunkers (they have a serious drainage problem here) LB was a sterner and longer test than we had expected.
The winner was Ray Funnell with 39 points and the runner-up Hans Berger with 38 points. The lowest gross was 89 by Siegmund (actually Kevin Wiggins recorded 88 but his flight had unilaterally invoked Winter Rules and so their scores were not considered in the official results) and the most golf was played by Alan Holgate with 113.
Full results and handicap adjustments can be found in the attachment.
13 of us drove down to the EQUATORIAL for lunch and excellent it was too. The Scandinavian contingent missed the exit and arrived later after a detour to the Sungai Buloh exit. You will get this with great navigators.
DOESN'T LOOK GREAT, BUT THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT! |
This was Mike Hughes & Lars Barkhed's last game on their annual pilgrimage from the frozen north. Bon voyage guys. We hope to see you both next year.
