Results - Impian Golf & Country Club - 27th October 2015

Conditions were good this morning for the October Monthly Trophy game at Impian Golf & Country Club. We had 18 players with Sigi taking up a last minute position when Ren Li cancelled. The course has been seen in better shape and again we played off the blue tees as the white tees seemed to have now disappeared from this course. Greens were good although some were a little bare in patches and inconsistent.

After the game we adjourned to the reliable Ken Well Seafood Restaurant for an excellent lunch and drinks kindly sponsored by Ted Parslow celebrating his 100th Cannons game. Thank you Ted!

Results

Scores were relatively low this week and the October Monthly Trophy winner with 37 points and a gross of 84 was Stuart Taylor. Runner up was Bernard Romahn with 36 points on count back from Paul Geddes also on 36 points. Best gross of the day was Andrew Chez with an 82. Full results below :

Results - Impian Golf & Country Club - 28th July 2015

Report

This was the monthly trophy game for July and we had 3 full flights with one guest. Weather was very good and the course was in great shape although most people complained about the slow greens.  The white tees were not present today so we all played off the blue tees with the exception of Andrew Chez who used the rear black tees.

Shot of the Day goes to Stuart Taylor who was inaugriating his new 56 deg sand wedge and the first time he used it was on the 9th hole where he played the very first virginal shot with this club and hole the ball for a sandy birdie!

We were not unduly held up and were back in the clubhouse around 12pm or after. Mike Smith had decided that given the usual traffic congestion on the way to the usual Seafood restaurant we would head over to East of Highway Restaurant for lunch. It was ironic that Mike missed the SILK turnoff and then spent a full hour to find his way eventually to the restaurant were everyone sees was safe installed partaking of the amber ale.

Thanks to Allan Wright for sponsoring the final batch of extra beers!

Results

The winner today for the July Trophy (and his very first Cannons win) was Allan Wright with 38 points and a gross of 96. Well done Allan. Runner up was Rein Li tan with 37 points and a gross of 90. Bets gross of the day goes to Andrew Chez with an 85. Full results below :

Results - Impian Saujana - 16th December 2014

Report

Weather conditions today at Impian Saujana were perfect with beautiful blue skies and sunshine as18 of us headed out on split tee boxes at 8:00am. We had one new player join us this week; Peter May introduced by Jeff Pearce and the return of a veteran player; Allan Wright making it a total of flights (2 x 3 balls and 3 x 4 balls).

Course condition was very good except the greens which had unfortunately been recently hollow tined and sanded and had not been rolled. They were very bumpy, sandy and unpredictable making putting a bit of a lottery.

Henning Therkelsen managed a trick shot today managing to hit his ball into his partners' buggy, lodging in the front tray .... see photograph below.

We were finished by 12:30 to 1pm and then 13 of the 18 players had lunch at the very good Ken Well Seafood Restaurant. Unfortunately Hans Berger got lost again and aborted. ... next time follow someone as this restaurant is a little tricky to find.

Results

Some very good scores today on this course with 6 players playing better than handicap. We had 3 players on 40 then Robert Mulliss, runner up with an excellent 41 points. However the winner with a magnificent 45 points and gross of 87 was Mike Smith. Well done Mike! He started his round with two blobs so just imagine if he had scored there also! The vasectomy kit will be out and applied to his handicap shortly .... ;)

Henning Therkelsen managed to hit his ball into his partner's buggy. It was lodged in the front tray of the buggy making it rather impossible to play ..... an unplayable lie was declared for 1 penalty stroke .... bad luck Henning!

Yes again Andrew Cseszko wins the "best attired" golfer award.
