Results - Templer Park - 1st July 2014
There were only 12 players at this week's game, probably due to this time of year when many are away on leave. I was also out of play today as having just had some surgery on my voice box last week decided to rest up. I will be back next week although running in "silent mode". However as it was Ramadan there was a special rate for this fine course hence the reason to play here.
Winner of the day was Tony Morris with a gross of 91 for 35 points. Glenn Sargeant scored 93 for 37 points but as he has as yet an unverified handicap and not played the requisite 5 games so he cannot win unfortunately. Second was Tom Holmes (welcome back Tom!) with 87 for 34 points. Full results below:

Next Game
Next week we will tentatively be playing at Kota Permai, again making use off the special Ramadan rates. Barry Cousins will be booking the flights this Thursday and I will confirm arrangements by email.

Results - Templer Park - 14th October 2013
Well ....TEMPLER PARK was in excellent condition, the fairways were holding a bit after the recent rains and the greens were as usual undulating and challenging but the scores reflected a rather tough day…..
We welcomed a new father and son combination, the Laidleys, and Tom mentioned a few times at lunch that he had beaten his Dad again….Also welcomed Jason Winter and Robert Mulliss for their first and we hope regular games with the LCs.
The winner, or should I say played less badly, was Ray Funnell with 103 for 33 points, cut 4. Second was Jason Winter with an excellent 82, the day's lowest gross, for 32 points. Cut 1. His round also included a 2 shot penalty for hitting the wrong ball..... Full Results attached.
After the game a gargantuan "feast" was consumed at the Tang. Thanks Tony
for booking, slightly smaller next time please.....!!

Results - Templer Park Golf Club - 19th February 2013
Report
On a cloudy and occasionally drizzly day 17 golfers set off from two tee boxes on time at 0800 hrs. The course played even longer than usual, after the overnight rain, with little or no run on the fairways. Greens were true although a little slow. The high scores reflected the challenging course, with only 6 players, breaking the 100.
The winner on the day, due for a win, was Ted Parslow with a gross of 85, for 42 points, cut 6 points. Runner up was Ray Funnell with 98 for 39 points, cut 1. No brotherly blood was spilt, as Geoff Parslow just beat his brother with the lowest gross of 84.
Bernard was celebrating his 100th game with Cannons and donated very generously, prizes for NTP, bottle of wine, First, second and third places, box of balls, and a wine for most golf, Peter Davies was the recipient. A big thank you, Bernard.
Winners for NTP were :
Hole 2 No one claimed. Aftab was on the green, no measurement recorded.
Hole 8 Andrew Robinson 4.73 m
Hole 11 Terry Scott (guest) 10.0 m
Hole 16 Geoff Parslow 4.1 m
Another excellent lunch was enjoyed at the Tang Restaurant post game along with an appropriate number of refreshments. Richard Moss joined us for lunch and shows excellent signs of recovery after his hip replacement - we hope to see him out on the turf soon.

Results - Templer Park - 8th February 2012
Cannons all,
Templer Park has to be one of the best course layouts in the country with a backdrop that is unsurpassed. The only blemish as I have said many times being the hideous house at the base of the Tigers Tooth. With some money spent here this could and should be up there with the best hosting the Malaysian Open again. Bright sun with almost no breeze greeted the 16 Cannons comprising 14 regulars and 2 new faces; Charlie & Bruce. Welcome to Cannons.
The course was in good shape but recent heavy rain had left several very soft areas resulting in a few plugged balls. The greens were a bit bumpy having been recently hollow tined but quite fast. Templer is always a challenge and so it proved with nobody playing to their handicap.
The winner with 32 points was Ray Funnell with Vincent Vijayan R/U OCB with 31 points. The best gross was 91 from Andrew Robinson and the most golf was played by new boy Charlie. Ray is cut 4 strokes and Vincent 1 stroke.
M&M was taken at the Annex where the service is very slow but the food quite good and the beverage affordable.
